Dr. Nicholas K. Smart-Yeboah, CEng, MIET, FGhIEMember
Dr. Smart-Yeboah has had over 41 years of electrical engineering and management experience. He is a chartered engineer of the UK and a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers. Dr. Smart-Yeboah’s experiences span 8 years of university teaching and research (rising up to acting headship of the department of electrical engineering at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria for 15 months), consulting and over 23 years in electricity distribution utility practice. He had responsibility for managing safety, maintenance and sub-transmission systems for the ECG during an 8-year period (1990 to 1998). Over the next 10 years, he was responsible for 2 of ECG’s Operational Regions generating average yearly revenue of around US$ 50 million per Region. He was appointed Director of Customer Services for the ECG in 2008 and assumed responsibility for billing, revenue management, revenue protection, marketing and metering activities. Under his leadership, sales revenue of ECG shot to nearly US$ 900 million per year. He initiated and left behind in ECG smart metering projects valued at approximately US$ 40million. Dr. Smart-Yeboah holds the following qualifications: PhD (1982) and MSc (1979) in Electric Power Systems Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK; BSc (Eng.) (1976) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology and the Executive MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana (2002). He is presently an independent power system consultant in technical, commercial and ICT related activities within the electricity industry.
