Monica N. A. Senanu (Mrs.)

Company Solicitor & Board Secretary

Monica Nana Ama Senanu is a lawyer with twenty-two (22) years of experience in a range of legal issues including energy, finance, corporate, commercial law, corporate governance and company secretarial services. She is currently the Company Solicitor & Board Secretary. Prior to her present appointment, she worked at the Volta River Authority (VRA) from December 2002 – August 2008. At VRA, she served as Principal Legal Counsel from October 2007 – August 2008 and as Senior Legal Counsel from December 2002 – October 2007. In these positions she handled legal issues in relation to the procurement of Goods, Works and Services, Preparation of Tender documents, Evaluation of Bids, Drafting of Legal opinions on a range of regulatory issues, Reviewing of Contracts and other Legal Documents, Negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements and served as the Project Lawyer for the Liberian Emergency Power Project. She also handled Litigation and Dispute Resolution Matters. Mrs. Senanu has extensive experience in Board Secretarial duties. She served as Board Secretary for the Takoradi International Company (TICO), which is a joint venture company between VRA and TAQA (The Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, originally with CMS Energy of the U.S.A.), and the Volta Hotel a subsidiary of VRA from 2005 – 2008. She was also Member/Secretary to the Transitional Management Team for the operationalization of GRIDCo. Prior to her time at the VRA, Mrs. Senanu worked at Africa Legal Aid (AFLA) an international Human Rights NGO where she served both as a Legal Officer and the Administrative Head of the Ghana office. She also worked at Sam Okudzeto & Associates as a Legal Practitioner. Mrs. Senanu holds a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Qualified Certificate in Law from the Ghana School of Law. She holds a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana and is member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) (2009). She has an Executive Masters degree in Business Administration (Project Management Option) from the University of Ghana, Legon. She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and a Notary Public.
