
Abdul Samed Ibrahim

Ing. Abdul Samed Ibrahim was appointed Ag. Deputy Chief Executive (Engineering and Operation) in May 2026.
He is an accomplished electrical engineer with over two (2) decades of experience in power system development, management, and the operational enhancement of transmission infrastructure. He played pivotal roles in the design, procurement, and execution of critical capital projects undertaken by GRIDCo/VRA, including construction of substations, high voltage transmission lines, and installation of power transformers, which form the groundwork for grid expansions in Ghana to meet the growing demand for power.
Ing. Ibrahim’s engineering career spans various roles at the Energy Commission (EC), the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo), during which he significantly contributed to the development and execution of large-scale transmission infrastructure projects. During his tenure with these organisations, he gathered a wealth of experience, ranging from public procurement regulations and procurement standards of leading international funding agencies, namely; World Bank, AFD, KfW, EIB and K-Exim Bank.
At GRIDCo, Ing. Ibrahim has held various positions, including Director, Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Project Manager (Technical Expert); Manager, Design & Standards, and Manager, Construction Management.
Ing. Abdul Samed Ibrahim holds an MSc. Engineering Project Management from the University of Leeds, U.K.; a BSc. and Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, both from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE).
