GRIDCo operates the most extensive and reliable transmission interconnected system in West Africa, operating mainly at 330kV, 225kV and 161kV. GRIDCo’s transmission lines span of over 6,500km with a transformer capacity of over 8,100MVA and 70 substations across Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo/Benin and Burkina Faso. GRIDCo currently operates the most modern SCADA and Energy Management Systems in West Africa. The company is the only Utility in West Africa that operates and manages a Static VAR Compensator located at its 161kV Tamale Substation.
