
Ing. Mark Baah has over twenty-eight years of experience in the power sector, particularly in power system planning, electricity market development, system dispatch operations, infrastructure management and corporate management.
He was appointed as Acting Chief Executive of Ghana Grid Company LTD in February 2025. Prior to his appointment, Ing. Baah served as Advisor (on the implementation of the Ghana Wholesale Electricity Market) to the Chief Executive and Director, Corporate Strategy. Prior to this, he held the position of Director, Southern Network Department, where he provided leadership in transmission asset maintenance, improvement and optimization, to ensure the reliable operation of the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS).
Between 2017 and 2022, Ing. Baah served as Director, System Operations, where he was responsible for power system dispatch operations and the development and implementation of the Electricity Market framework. He played a pivotal role in the establishment of GRIDCo in 2008, serving as Special Assistant to the first Chief Executive and contributing significantly to the Company’s successful transition and early operations.
Ing. Baah has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the Ghana Wholesale Electricity Market. His contributions have shaped national energy policy through his roles on the Energy Sector Recovery Task Force, the Electricity Market Oversight Panel, and the Technical Committee of the Energy Commission. Regionally, he has served as Vice Chair of the West Africa Power Pool (WAPP) Engineering & Operations Committee and Chair of the Committee of Operators for ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA), contributing to the integration and regulation of West Africa’s power systems.
Ing. Baah holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Leeds University Business School, United Kingdom, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Electromechanical Engineering from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Russia. He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE).
