
Joshua Anaman Sackey (Nana Amoasi VII) is the Chief of Ekumfi Abor in the Central Region and is a distinguished energy professional with nearly thirty (30) years of experience in Ghana’s mining and energy sectors. He is the Technical Advisor at Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST). He has expertise in energy policy, mechanical systems management, oil and gas infrastructure management, strategic leadership, and sustainable energy advocacy. With a multidisciplinary background, he holds qualifications
in mechanical engineering, financial management (ACCA), and a BSc in Banking and Finance. He further advanced his expertise with a Master of Science (MSc) in Oil and Gas Management and is pursuing a PhD in Petroleum and Energy Studies.
His career began at AngloGold Ashanti as a Plant Foreman from 1996 to 1999, followed by roles at BOST and Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), where he held positions such as Mechanical Supervisor and Fuel Transmission Manager, respectively. From 2017 to 2020, he managed shipping operations at Convenio Energy PLC. Nana Amoasi VII was the past Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), from 2016, where he led energy policy advocacy, promoted sustainable energy solutions, and ensured transparency in the energy sector. His leadership roles have cemented his status as a key figure in shaping Ghana’s energy future, thus earning him a nomination from the Ghana Energy Award as Energy Personality of the Year in 2021 among other eleven (11) eminent personalities.
