A Joint Technical Committee comprising representatives from the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), Volta River Authority (VRA), Société Nationale d’électricité du Burkina Faso (SONABEL) from Burkina and Compagnie Ivoirenne d’Electricite (CIE) from Cote d’Ivoire, held a week-long meeting in Ghana.

The five-day meeting took place in Tema, from Monday, December 12 to Friday December 16, 2022.

Discussions focused on ‘backup arrangements to enable GRIDCo to wheel power to SONABEL through the CIE network’; ‘A review of the performance of the interconnected Ghana – Côte d’Ivoire – Burkina system’, and ‘Harmonisation of the AFLS settings on the interconnected Ghana – Côte d’Ivoire – Burkina system’.

The power export market is a critical pillar in GRIDCo’s business. For this reason, efforts are made to ensure optimal reliability and security of supply to our sub-regional clients, as well as their utmost satisfaction with GRIDCo’s services.

Leveraging the sub-regional market will generate more revenues from the export of power and help sustain GRIDCo’s business in the long-term.

Ing. Frank Otchere, Director System Operations on behalf of the Chief Executive of GRIDCo, presented copies of GRIDCo’s 2023 Notebook Diaries and Wall Calendars to representatives from SONABEL and CIE.
