With praises and dancing to God Most High for bringing the Company and staff this far, Management and staff in Tema gathered at the forecourt of the System Control Centre (SCC) at the Head Office, and Staff in other work locations also joined a live feed to participate in GRIDCo’s 16th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service, on 23rd August, 2024,

Delivering his sermon on the theme, “Ebenezer: Thus Far The Lord Has Brought Us” [1 Samuel 7-12] Rev. Ing. Frank Otchere, Director, System Operations, compared GRIDCo’s transmission assets from inception to date; highlighting an increased transmission capacity and number of substations. He also mentioned a few of the awards the Company has won from 2013 to date.

Transmission Capacity

2009 – 4,000 circuit kilometres of 330 kilovolts (kV), 225kV, 161 kilovolts (kV) transmission lines across the country, carrying power from various generating stations to forty-three (43) transformer substations.

2023 – 6,639.2 circuit kilometres of high-voltage transmission lines to wheel power from generating stations to sixty-nine (69) Substations or Bulk Supply Stations (BSPs).

1. “The Gilbert Ohene Dokyi Outstanding Personality Award” at the 2024 National Internal Audit and Governance Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Ghana.

2. “Power Service Provider of the Year (2018) for Africa,” at the African Power, Energy.

3. “Excellence in Power Transmission or Distribution” for 2015 & 2016 at the 2nd and 3rd West Africa Power Industry Convention respectively.

Rev. Ing. Otchere commended successive Board and Management Teams for observing such an important annual event, and to all staff [past and present], for the hard work, as well. “Indeed, God has done many things for us as a Company and as individuals so, there is a lot to be grateful for,” he noted.

The Rev. Minister recounted the skepticism in the Energy Sector, about how long GRIDCo would last, after its operationalisation. He underscored the fact that, success is not easy to achieve; it takes hard work, determination and most importantly, the God factor to succeed. He buttressed his point with Psalm 127:1 – “Unless the LORD build the house, the builders labour in vain…”

The sermon was based on five (5) themes – Diligence, Sacrifice, Courage, Teamwork and Good Leadership.

The Board Chairman exhorted staff to pray for Management for guidance and strength to achieve more laurels. He eulogised the two former Board Chairmen present and other predecessors for the key role played in starting GRIDCo on firm grounds.

Ing. Emmanuel Appiah Korang and Alhaji Huudu Yahaya took turns to congratulate successive Boards and Management, as well as staff [past and present] for their immense contributions to the successes GRIDCo has chalked so far.

Distinguished Guests who graced this important occasion were Ing. Emmanuel Appiah Korang and Alhaji Huudu Yahaya [Both former GRIDCo Board Chairmen]; Ambassador Kabral Blay- Amihere, Board Chairman and some Board Members namely; Nana Akyereako Adjabinti I (A.K.A. Nana Kofi Nti), Ing. Bernard Nii Sackey and Ing. Stephen Akuoko. Also present were a four-man delegation from SONABEL, Burkina, led by OUEDRAOGO Aristide, Director for Power Generation and Transmission.

The GRID Band and Tema Chorale led the gathering with melodious songs of praises.
