As GRIDCo stepped into the new year, the Annual Thanksgiving Service offered a moment to pause, reflect and give thanks for the people and purpose that sustain our work. Held at the forecourt of the System Control Centre (SCC) in Tema and streamed live to all locations, the service brought Staff and leadership together in gratitude and hope.
The service opened with uplifting praise and worship led by the GRID BAND, setting a reverent and celebratory tone. This was followed by an opening prayer from Mr. Richard Koranchie, who committed the service into God’s hands and gave thanks for the past year.
Welcoming Management and Staff, the Director of Human Resources, Mr. Isaac Mumuni introduced the theme for the programme – “I Will Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving in my Heart.” He emphasised gratitude as a core value of GRIDCo’s culture and encouraged Staff to approach the year with renewed accountability, excellence and shared responsibility.
Scripture readings were taken from Psalm 103:1–5 by Mr. Pius Avio, Acting Director of Finance; 1 Thessalonians 5:12–18 by Rita Ademan and another reading by Abraham Basaw. The Tema Choral then led the sermon hymn (MHB 12), paving the way for the message delivered by the Very Rev. Solomon Nortey, Superintendent Minister, Airport East, Methodist Church Ghana.
In his sermon, Very Rev. Nortey urged Staff to see thanksgiving not only as a response to blessings received, but as a mindset that shapes character, attitude and work ethics. He said, “Live a life of praise unto God, so appreciation isn’t something you do, but live it as a lifestyle”. The service also observed a solemn moment in remembrance of departed colleagues, followed by intercessory prayers for Ghana, GRIDCo, Staff and their families. Selected staff led these prayers, seeking peace, protection and prosperity for the year ahead.
In his closing remarks, the Chief Executive, Ing. Mark Baah expressed sincere appreciation to Staff for their resilience and commitment over the past year. He paid tribute to operational teams, who worked throughout the festive season to keep the National Grid stable.
Referencing Psalm 92, Ing. Baah reminded staff of the depth of God’s thoughts towards His people and encouraged everyone to remain focused as the Company prepares for a demanding operational period through April. He called for strong collaboration across both operational and non-operational teams.
He further appealed to staff to live out GRIDCo’s core value of Care, especially towards colleagues facing health or personal challenges, noting that even a simple phone call can make a meaningful difference. Further, he noted that, “I believe things are going to get better for Ghana, and for GRIDCo”.
The service ended with a closing hymn, led by the Tema Choral, and the benediction by Very Rev. Nortey.
