A delegation led by GRIDCo’s Board Chairman, Amb. Kabral Blay-Amihere together with the Chief Executive (CE), Ing. Ebenezer Kofi Essienyi have met with the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Nii Kwartei Titus Glover and Members of his Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC).
The objective of the meeting was to seek the support and collaboration of the RCC concerning addressing the RoW issues at the Circle-Ecomog Area following a fire incident.
Board Chairman, Amb. Blay-Amihere was appreciative of the Regional Minister’s directive that no one should reside or undertake any activity near GRIDCo’s transmission lines. The Minister recounted a similar fire outbreak at Circle-Ecomog some two years ago, and has agreed with GRIDCo that, for safety reasons, human activity at the site must cease.
Ing. Ebenezer Kofi Essienyi explained that RoW issues in Accra and across the country are enormous. He introduced Ing. Bismark Anane, Director of Land Management, as the one to lead efforts to address RoW issues. Ing. Essienyi explained that apart from Circle-Ecomog, there are other parts of Accra which have been encumbered, therefore, in due time, the assistance of the Greater Accra RCC would help to free the RoW to protect human life and assets, provide access for operational and maintenance work and limit encroachment.
The meeting took place on Tuesday 11th June, 2024 at the RCC offices with the Chief Director, Mrs. Lilian Baeka; Security Co-ordinator, Nana Oppong and Public Relations Officer Ms. Yaa Boatemaa. Members of GRIDCo’s delegation included, some Management Staff, and Ing. Papa Kojo Mensah, Special Assistant to the CE.
