Interim Executive Officers of the newly launched Technician Engineers Association of GRIDCo (TEAG) recently called on the Chief Executive, Ing. Ebenezer Essienyi, to extend their appreciation to him and Management for the support provided ahead of and during the re-branding and launch of T.E.A.G. in July, 2024.

The engagement was also to formally introduce the newly appointed interim Executive Officers. Welcoming the team, Ing. Essienyi congratulated the organising committee for delivering a successful launch. He emphasised the importance of groupings such as T.E.A.G., encouraging all Technician Engineers to put their shoulders to the wheel to make the Association worth forming.

In his comments, interim President, Mr. Cyril Mawuli King stated, “Now that the Association has been formally launched, we will even need more [of Management’s] support so, the Association takes off on a good note, and importantly, is effectively operationalised.”

On how T.E.A.G. seeks to deliver value to its members who are mainly Technician Engineers, Mr. King solicited Management’s support to establish a Training and Research Committee in collaboration with H.R. to design training programmes for mechanics and newly-engaged technical staff. Additionally, T.E.A.G. will collaborate with the Technical Services Department to organise regular seminars to share knowledge and experience. Again, Mr. King indicated that the Association would collaborate with a recognised professional engineering body such as, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET, Ghana) to facilitate capacity building activities for its members.

Responding to Mr. King’s presentation, Ing. Essienyi lauded the preparedness and initiative of the interim executives to ensure that the Association works effectively. He was particularly elated about the planning strategy for training the young members. “The knowledge gaps are real, and they need to be bridged urgently. So, see where we can leverage our strengths for the good of the Company. Train the young ones to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty, let them go beyond the normal, since that exposure always turns out to be very helpful later in life, he noted.”

Other Management staff present congratulated the team, committing to provide the needed support. “When Technicians get it right, he outcome of whatever is done turns out to be good,” said a Management staff.

Also present at the meeting were Director, Corporate Strategy, Mark Awuah Baah; Project Director, Project Implementation Unit, Nicholina Nkang-Ma Yembilah; Director, Land Management, Ing.
