It was all joy and excitement when the Director, Human Resources (DHR), Ms. Florence Agyei; Director Southern Network Service (SND), Ing. Hussaini Adams; Director, Land Management, Ing. Bismark Anane; a cross section of Managers, colleagues from the HR Department; the MIS Section and well-wishers met at an event to celebrate Mrs. Esther Mangortey, and Mr. Frank Ashon for their service to VRA/GRIDCo.
After 33 years of service for Mrs. Mangortey, and 32 years served by Mr. Frank Ashon, the gathering, in the Welcome Words of Manager, Performance Management and Organisational Learning, Mr. Frank Akekyi, “…is here to celebrate them for what they have done for the organisation”.
In her opening remarks, DHR commended everyone for their wonderful expression of support for Esther and Frank. She expressed mixed feelings at the transition of the two, saying, “I am losing two of my most experienced staff, because there is so much history and institutional knowledge they are taking away with them. The team will miss them so much.” DHR expressed heartfelt appreciation to the celbrants for their immeasurable and unconditional support for her, when she joined GRIDCo.
Ing. Hussaini indicated that, he has known Esther and Frank since the 1990s. He lauded them for the great work they have done in the VRA / GRIDCo organisation. He said, “I can feel Esther’s exit on a very personal level because she was one of the people who assisted in grooming some of us. She has seen us grow and has played a major part in what we have become today.” He added, “Frank was already a very established person in VRA. You didn’t meet Frank in his hay days,” amid a lot of cheerful laughter. He wished both Mrs. Mangortey, and Mr. Ashon well, as they enter a new phase of life, saying, “We wish you well and thank you.”
Making a presentation on behalf of the MIS Section, Mrs. Joy Quarshie stated, “Many of us were employed under Mr. Ashon’s leadership during his tenure in the MIS Section so, he is very dear to our hearts.” He received a citation, gift and a cash amount from the MIS Welfare Group. Mr. Ashon expressed his appreciation saying, “I wish you well. I pray for all of you that the Lord will bless your work.” DHR also presented a gift to Mr. Ashong commenting, “That was truly profound, I am glad to learn that through your work, you made an impact on so many people.”
Leading the HR Team, DHR also presented a gift to Mrs. Mangortey indicating that, Esther’s extensive knowledge allowed GRIDCo to stay on course in different ways. “She has been a very knowledgeable mentor and coach. Thank you, Madam Esther! On behalf of the HR Team, I present to you, a token of our love and respect to you.”
Esther and Frank Ashon also expressed their appreciation to DHR, Florence Agyei for all the conversations had and the opportunity to work impactfully.
The evening ended with lots of photographs, more dancing and cheers.
