In a show of style and enthusiasm ahead of the annual worldwide Mother’s Day celebrations, Executive Officers of the GRIDCo Ladies Association (GRIDLASS) leveraged on the commemorative day to celebrate and honour GRIDCo’s first Chairlady, Kuukua Maurice Ankrah, in recognition of her outstanding leadership and historic role in Ghana’s energy sector.
Kuukua Maurice Ankrah is the first female Chair of a Board of Directors among the energy sector agencies. Her appointment as the Chairlady, marks a proud and historic moment in GRIDCo’s 17-year journey, placing her in a distinguished role that symbolises not only personal achievement but also the boundless possibilities available to women, who lead with excellence, courage, and conviction. As the only female Board Chair in the energy utility space, she stands as a powerful symbol of breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field.
The Chairlady’s leadership has been inspiring. Known for her decisiveness, clarity of purpose, and ability to mobilise people in challenging times, she has demonstrated exceptional resilience, turning crises into catalysts for progress. This recently became evident in her strategic direction and unwavering commitment; guiding GRIDCo through difficult operational moments in the aftermath of the 23rd April, 2026 GRIDCo Akosombo Control Room Fire incident.
Currently, she is steering the organisation toward recovery, renewal, and a forward-looking vision, anchored in modernisation and sustainability. By fostering collaboration among stakeholders, empowering teams, and promoting accountability, she has strengthened institutional unity and confidence. She embodies the principle that true leadership is not merely about position, but about influence, integrity, and the ability to inspire collective action toward a shared goal.
Beyond her professional achievements, Kuukua is a wife and mother, an author of Christian books, an entrepreneur, and a servant to her community through impactful initiatives such as, “The Choir on Wheels.” Her life reflects a harmonious balance of excellence in leadership, faith, family, and service, making her a relatable and powerful role model for women everywhere.
