In a related development, as part of processes to lay new cables from the temporary control room to the switchyard, GRIDCo’s Chief Executive, Ing. Frank Otchere and some Management Staff visited two Tema-based (2) companies, namely; Tropical Cable and Conductor Ltd. (TTCL) and Nexans Kabelmetal Company (Kabelmetal) on 2nd July 2026.
They have been tasked to produce the cables required for the Akosombo Power Restoration Project Work. At TCCL, Mr. Monarch Bossman Kudze, the Assistant Production Manager of TCCL and Mr. Robert Mensah, the Maintenance Manager explained the progress of the cable production work to the GRIDCo Team. Ing. Frank Otchere was pleased with the progress of work and emphasised the need to have the cables ready and delivered to Akosombo on time to facilitate swift advancement on the work.
The second visit to Kabelmetal took place on Thursday 9th July with C.E. Otchere and his team ensuring that the cables meet the requirements for the installation and termination works.
Cable laying is expected to commence this July 2026. The project is expected to be completed by September 2026.
