The KNUST branch of “Engineering Without Borders” organised a Career Fair on April 5, 2024, at the KNUST campus, Kumasi, hosting professional engineers to inspire and engage young engineering students. Themed “Bridging Academia with Industry: Empowering Future Engineers,” the fair aimed to encourage students to address local challenges by leveraging their education to create location-specific solutions.
Speakers at the event included GRIDCo’s Director of Land Management, Ing. Bismark Anane, Ing. Agbenyega Adzraku, Assistant Manager – Electrical at Ghana Airports Company, and Ing. Mrs. Alberta Amankwa, Principal Electrical Engineer at ECG.
Ing. Anane highlighted the importance of such sessions, stating, “Engagements like this will prepare them well for the industry after graduation. Engineering is about problem-solving, and we have come this far because of innovation.”
The well-attended Fair emphasised the need to bridge the gap between theoretical studies and practical knowledge to enable young engineering graduates to address local community problems through innovation. Professionals were urged to share their experiences, provide coaching, and support engineering education in the country.
