As part of GRIDCo’s stakeholder engagement efforts aimed at strengthening relations with key traditional authorities within the Company’s operational areas, the Board of GRIDCo paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, at his Palace in Accra.
The delegation, led by the Board Chairlady, Kuukua Maurice Ankrah, was received by His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II alongside a gathering of Elders and Palace Officials.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Board to formally engage His Royal Majesty, brief him on GRIDCo’s mandate and strategic role in Ghana’s power sector, and seek his goodwill and support for the Company’s operations and future initiatives within the Greater Accra Region and beyond.
The Board Chairlady noted that the visit was part of a broader governance approach focused on transparency and engagement of key stakeholders. She noted that “Institutions such as GRIDCo must remain accountable not only to regulators but also to the people. Dialogue with traditional leadership is an important part of that process,” she noted. The Chairlady expressed regret over the recent car accident involving the Ga Mantse and conveyed the Board’s well wishes for his full and speedy recovery.
The Chief Executive (CE), Ing. Mark Baah courted His Majesty’s support by noting the continued need for effective collaboration with local stakeholders in a way that supports GRIDCo’s work in the region, particularly as demand for electricity continues to grow in Accra. The CE communicated GRIDCo’s continued commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable grid.
His Majesty, the Ga Mantse expressed appreciation for the recognition shown to the Stool and noted that, “Our expectation is that progress will not only be seen in structures but felt in the lives of the people.”
