In the last quarter of 2025, the Techiman Area Line Maintenance Team changed critically shattered insulators along the Kintampo-Adubilyili (KP6AD) line at Gulumpe in the Bono East Region. The work was undertaken on tower number 166. The work was challenged because it was unfortunately heavily infested with bees. The presence of the bees on the tower required that the line crew wear special protective gear ‘bee suits’ to protect them from the potential danger from the bees.
Through their annual ground patrol and vegetation control works, the line crew discovered the shattered insulators and subsequently planned to change them. Displaying one of the Company’s core value – “Responsiveness” – the line crew worked diligently to complete the work within five (5) hours. The work started at 0900hrs and ended at 1400hrs.
The Kintampo-Adubilyili line links the grid to the SONABEL network, which serves Burkina Faso. By promptly doing this work, despite the danger posed by the bees, the Techiman Line Maintenance team contributed to maintaining the cordial business relationship between GRIDCo and SONABEL.
The work was led by Assistant Chief Technician Engineer (ACTE) Clement Tetteh Koney and ably supported by Dan Yonni Apasu, Gideon Brempong, Edmund Anyimiah, Joseph Dabuo and Ibrahim Osman.
