It was with smiles and excitement that 83 Staff who have served the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) from periods of 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, 25 years, 30 years, 35 years and 40 years received their special honours from the company. The well attended event was held on Thursday 1st December 2022. Accompanied by spouses and family members, the 83 staff received cash prizes, certificates of recognition, and gifts at the event held which saw very good attendance. spouses.

Primus Inter Pares, “First Among Equals” among the eighty-three (83) staff for their dedicated service is Emmanuel Aggrey who has served GRIDCo for 40 years and was the only person in that category. Mr. Aggrey is a foreman with the Northern Network Department. He was accompanied by his wife and children to The Long Service Awardees

Guest speaker for the event was former Director for Engineering at GRIDCo, Ing. Eric Asare. Commenting on the theme for the occasion, “Espousing our core values to build a resilient organisation” Ing. Asare indicated that the global pandemic has impacted on the way GRIDCo does business but GRIDCo has demonstrated consistency in power delivery in spite of these challenges. Ing. Asare said: “the prize for greatness is responsibility, and how we react to our environment will determine how we move forward”. In that regard, the Guest Speaker, commended GRIDCo for its resilience and commitment to excellence.

In his keynote address, the Chief Executive Officer of GRIDCo Ing. Ebenezer Essienyi lauded all awardees for their hardwork and service in particular Emmanuel Aggrey’s longevity in GRIDCo covering 40 years because when he started work, he the CE was in secondary school. CE also expressed his appreciation to the wife of Emmanuel Aggrey for her. Inspite of the economic challenges projected for 2023, Ing. Essienyi nonetheless expressed confidence saying, “GRIDCo is a Solid Company. But although I project next year will be difficult, we all need to roll up our sleeves and keep working to keep the company moving”. Ing. Essienyi, noted that in the year under review, GRIDCo has improved on its transmission reliability. He called for commitment from all staff for upcoming projects that will improve GRIDCo’s delivery in particular to entities such as the mines, foreign partners like Burkina from which GRIDCo derives a significant portion of its revenue.

Both the GRIDCo senior staff Association and the Divisional Union of the PWSU expressed appreciation to the Management for continuing to honour the Long Service Awards which serves as a motivation and inspiration. Both the SSA and PSWU called for unity among the workforce. The PSWU took the opportunity to present a citation to the advisor to the Chief Executive Ing. Daniel Amartey for his collaboration with the Divisional Union of GRIDCo.
