On September 27, 2023, in Prestea, Western Region, a significant event unfolded, leaving a lasting impression on the community. The Ghana Grid Company LTD (GRIDCo) 2022/23 batch of National Service Personnel (NSP), supported by the Company, proudly commissioned the Prestea Spring Water Project.
The Prestea Spring Water Project offers some solution to the water challenges the Community had been grappling with. The project features two water reservoirs connected to a spring water source within the forest.
Mrs. Emily Otoo-Asare, Manager for HR Operations, emphasised the profound impact of projects like this on the communities in which GRIDCo operates.
Nana Nteboa Prah IV, the Divisional Chief of Prestea-Himan Traditional Area, expressed profound gratitude to GRIDCo, asking that more CSR projects be extended to the area. He passionately charged the District Assembly and the youth of the community to safeguard this precious gift.
Other GRIDCo staff present were, Mr. Abraham Doku, Prestea Area Manager, and Mr. Solomon Mensah, Takoradi Area Manager. Other dignitaries, who graced the occasion, included Honourable Shaibu, the Assemblyman for the community; representatives from the National Service Secretariat; the Municipal Police Commander, and representatives from FGR Mines and Sankofa Mines.
The commissioning of the Prestea Spring Water Project marks a significant milestone in GRIDCo’s journey of community engagement and project delivery by its NSP over the last six years. The Prestea Spring Water Project showcases the Company’s dedication to making a positive impact beyond the realm of electricity transmission and distribution.
