Two officials from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), recently paid a working visit to the GRIDCo Management Team. The main purpose of the visit was to introduce the new Deputy Country Director to the Company. It also served as a good platform for the AFD Officer who has been working on GRIDCo’s portfolio to inform Management of her new assignment and to bid farewell to the GRIDCo.
Mrs. Claire DELAMARE, the new Deputy Director for Ghana and Liberia, assumed her new position two (2) weeks ago. After, introducing the Directors, Managers and other staff present, Ing, Samuel Nkansah, Director Finance, who led the GRIDCo Team, extended a warm welcome to Mrs. DELAMARE to Ghana and to GRIDCo.
Ing. Nkansah informed Madame Claire that, “There is a strong partnership between GRIDCo and AFD. A lot is going on, and there is a lot to be done. We however believe that this relationship will be deepened, so that together, we will achieve the goals we have in common.”
The AFD Country Director was grateful for the warm reception and elated to meet the Team. “It is very precious to me to have this in-person meeting so that I can put faces to the names”, she said. Madame Claire expressed optimism about building upon the existing strong partnership between the two organisations.
Madame Aurelie Tanobla Konin, Project Officer, Energy Transition at the AFD Accra Office in Ghana, and the Officer-in-Charge of the GRIDCo portfolio, took advantage of the meeting to bid farewell to the GRIDCo Team. After working on the GRIDCo portfolio for almost four (4) years, Madame Aurelie has received a new assignment. The AFD team informed GRIDCo that Madame Claire will play the role of the Officer-in-Charge of the GRIDCo portfolio until Aurelie’s position is filled. “I came to say goodbye to you, and to let you know that you are in good hands,’ said Aurelie. Participants, took turns to wish Madame Konin well in her new assignment.
Ing. Nicholina Yembilah, Director, Project Implementation Unit (PIU), led the GRIDCo Team to give the AFD Team an overview of the K1-K2 Projects. Some of the areas discussed were the Contract Document; Compensation Document; Timelines for Draw Down of the Grant Facility; The Livelihood Restoration Programme for the Project; Progress Reports and Project Meetings, which will serve as an update avenue for AFD.
On behalf of GRIDCo, Director PIU, thanked AFD for financing the various upgrades undertaken in the System Control Room.
