The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has commenced a comprehensive fire audit of GRIDCo’s transmission assets, reinforcing efforts to enhance safety and operational resilience.

A delegation from the GNFS Headquarters, led by DO1 Micheal Ato Korsah, paid a courtesy visit to GRIDCo’s Chief Executive, Ing. Frank Otchere, ahead of the exercise.

The audit aims to assess potential fire risks, evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of existing fire prevention and protection systems, and ensure the safety of personnel, critical infrastructure, and the continuity of operations.

The Ing. Frank Otchere reassured DO1 Micheal Ato Korsah and his team of GRIDCo’s cooperation saying, “Thank you for coming. I assure you that everything you need for a very good audit, we will make it happen.”

On his parts DO1 Mr. Korsah extended greetings from the Chief Fire Officer, Ms. Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong. He emphasised that the fire audit team will do a good job stating, “We are here, committed to ensuring that the KPIs will be met. We have a few locations to cover, and we hope to meet the timeline. We are ready.”

Over a one-month period, the audit will cover all GRIDCo facilities nationwide, including substations and warehouses. Director Technical Services, Ing. Vincent Boachie added that once the schedule is set, the support of the Operational Areas is assured, and they will be involved in the fire audit process.

This collaboration with the GNFS highlights GRIDCo’s commitment to proactive risk management and the highest standards of safety across its operations.

Following the engagement, the GNFS Team undertook the fire audit at the Volta, Smelter II and New Tema Substations. See some pictures from the New Tema Substation audit.
