Top Management of GRIDCo and Ivorian partner transmission utility Côte d’Ivoire Énergies (CI-E) have met to discuss issues of mutual interest to both entities.
On behalf of the CE, Ing. Mark Baah, Director, Corporate Strategy welcomed the CI-E delegation, led by its Director General, Mr. Noumory SIDIBE to Ghana and specifically GRIDCo.
A member of the CI-E delegation, Mr. Ambroise DJAHA indicated that, they would like to confer with GRIDCo on several issues, key being, how to ensure mutual exchanges of power, particularly because, Côte d’Ivoire heads into Presidential elections in October 2025. Mr. Djaha explained, “We are in an election year. Since Ghana has a newly elected government from the recent elections, a lot will be expected from the power utilities to deliver reliable power supply. Nevertheless, we would like to discuss how GRIDCo could seamlessly meet Côte d’Ivoire’s demands, especially as we go into the election cycle.”
CI-E indicated that its visit to Ghana was to achieve the objective of stable power by firming up capacity commitments with VRA and Genser [which will require GRIDCo’s support] to have the power generated, wheeled to Côte d’Ivoire.
Ing. Baah indicated how much GRIDCo appreciates the magnitude of the request, and was committed to transmitting power, as soon as the VRA/Genser component had been sorted. On his part, Ing. Frank Otchere, Director, System Operations agreed that a meeting will be required between the interested parties to close out the process to at least meet the March timeline.
The GRIDCo and CI-E team also discussed key technical issues impacting the interconnection and regular power exchanges between the two countries.
The CI-E team also comprised Mr. Ambroise Djaha, a Director; Mr. Don Gossan Salomon, Director, Transmission and Mr. Boris Trabi, Director, Treasury. GRIDCo team was also included Ing. Vincent Boachie, Director, Procurement; Ing. Hussaini Adams; Director, Southern Network Department, (SND); Mr. Richard Ntim, Director, Audit; Ing. Linda Baah, Manager, Market Operations; Ing.
