GRIDCo is actively promoting closer ties between the industry and academia by organizing tours for university engineering students. In a recent tour, thirty-five (35) undergraduate students specializing in Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunications Engineering from the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) were hosted.

Ing. Frank Okyere, the Director of System Operations, warmly welcomed the students to the System Control Center (SCC). During their visit, Ing. Stephen Debrah, the Manager of System Dispatch, provided a comprehensive overview of GRIDCo’s mission and operational processes as the System Operator. He explained the intricate journey of electricity, spanning from its generation to its ultimate consumption by end-users, offering insights into power generation, transmission, and distribution.

Additionally, Miss. Akua Aleh, Assistant Chief Technician Engineer at GRIDCo, conducted a very informative session with the Telecommunication Engineering students. She engaged them in a discussion focused on the strategic utilization of optical fiber to ensure seamless communication across GRIDCo’s network infrastructure. The subsequent question and answer session served to further enrich the students’ comprehension.

At the end of the tour, Mr. Manasseh Nana Kweku Attua, the leader of the student group, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to GRIDCo’s Management and the team of engineers for providing them with an invaluable opportunity for learning and personal development.
