On August 17, 2023, Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology), visited Ghana Grid Company Ltd. as part of her tour of industries and interactions with KNUST Alumni in Tema. Ing. Frank Otchere, representing the Chief Executive, and the GRIDCo Management team welcomed her and highlighted the strong historical ties and collaborations between GRIDCo and KNUST, especially within the College of Engineering.
Prof. Mrs. Dickson expressed gratitude for GRIDCo’s support, including internships and National Service opportunities for students. She praised the relationship between the two institutions and indicated her excitement for the visit, promising to return. She also shared KNUST’s achievement in ranking first in the Times Higher Education rankings for progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on “quality education.”
The meeting included a presentation on GRIDCo’s operations by Ing. Otchere. Other attendees included Alhaji Sani Alhassan Mahama from KNUST Alumni Association and members of the KNUST Team, including lecturers and executive members of the Tema Alumni Association.
Also present in the meeting were, the Registrar of the University, Mr. Andrews K. Boateng; the Tema Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Yohane Armah Ashitey; Alhaji Sani Alhassan Mahama, Chief Coordinator, KNUST Alumni Association, Tema Chapter and other executive officers of the Chapter.
