On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, a delegation from the Ministry of Energy (MoEn) comprising of the Director Power, Mr. Solomon Adjetey, along with his team, paid a working visit to the Achimota and Accra Central Substations. The purpose of the visit was to view first-hand, the status of work done on the Achimota to Mallam Transmission Line Upgrade Project. The tour took the team along the line from Achimota Substation to Avenor.
Ing. Vincent Boachie, Director Engineering, who conducted the tour, explained the issues that stalled the progress of the work. However, despite the challenges experienced, Ing. Boachie said he was happy to announce that the work was then, about ninety-nine percent (99%) complete. He also underscored the importance of the project. He disclosed that with this transmission line upgrade in place, the transmission network in the south has become very robust, with enough transmission line capacity to evacuate power.
